Operation Smile - Concert!

We had our operation smile & composers club concert last night and to say it was amazing would be an understatement! It was a wonderful school community function. The playlist and the singers were incredible and the turn out was amazing too.We had our usual bake sale with smile cupcakes. The theme of our show was Kenyan culture! The reason we had this concert was because it is our main fundraiser of the year, and with the money we raise, we pay for the operations.
One of the main difficulties we had when planning for the concert was the dates and what else we could incorporate to raise more money. We have so many things happening around school, the main issue was booking the auditorium and finding a date that was suitable between our intercultural trips and work and weekend commitments around school. Obviously one of the major things to learn and be aware of is how much time and effort planning such a big event takes. Something i learned is that when you are so dedicated to something thats for a good cause, it is bound to be a wonderful event.
The people who helped us with this event was obviously our supervisors; Ms. Nichols, Mrs. Stenning and our ISK chorus teacher, Ms. Lillis- who is also the supervisor for composers club. I think for next year when planning this event, we need prepare a bit in advance so we are not all rushed towards the actual concert and we also get a good date set.
I have baked mandazis for the group so that I can at least help raise money for the children getting surgeries. In fact, WE EARNED ABOUT $2000, WHICH IS ENOUGH SURGERIES FOR 8 CHILDREN! WOOHOO!
